Biography

Born Hilda Doolittle in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, H.D. is remembered as a leading figure of the Imagist movement, though she developed an independent style of her own throughout her career, often inspired by Greek mythology. Ezra Pound was an early supporter of her work, and she met Marianne Moore and William Carlos Williams while still in college. H.D. was later recognized as a feminist icon, and her reputation as one of the most important Modernist poets grew after her death.
